Maintaining a Sealed Concrete Floor
  • Cleaning:

If you have an interior concrete floor that has been sealed, there is not
much involved in maintenance. Clean the floor using clean water and mild
dish soap. Rinse well and let dry. You may use a squeegee to prevent water
spots.

  • Waxing:

If you would like to increase the shine and get rid of surface
scratches, you may use our High Gloss Wax. You would need to clean the
surface with JUST WATER, let the surface dry, and then wax the floor. Wax
can be applied with a hardwood floor mop. Wax should be poured on the
surface and mopped. Floor should dry in approximately 30 minutes.

*If surface turns a milky-white after applying wax, this means
there was a film left on the surface prior to waxing. You would need to
remove the wax with ammonia and water or with a wax stripper. Clean the
surface with warm water to remove all residue. Let surface dry and then wax
again.*

Aqua Clear (Premium Water-based Sealer)

DCS has a new “premium” water-based sealer called Aqua Clear. This is a “green” product with very low odor and solvent-free. It also enhances colored and acid stained concrete, unlike most water-based sealers. This will allow home and business owners to get back to work sooner without the harsh smell of solvents. This is a great high solids, single-component urethane sealer for interior and exterior (with UV) use. It is very user friendly and scratch-resistant.

Aqua Clear can only be applied by a pump or airless sprayer in a circular motion with 100% coverage. DO NOT ROLL. Apply first coat at a rate of 160 square feet per gallon, slightly heavier than our normal solvent sealer. If it puddles or gets too thick do not worry, it will self level to a point and any thick areas will cure/dry clear. This is a water-based product, so dry time will be 2-6 hours depending on temperature and humidity. (NOTE: If the floor temperature is low due to cool or cold conditions, allow Aqua Clear to dry for 24 hours.) Allow to cure 2 additional hours after surface is completely dry to the touch before applying second coat. Cure time will be 24 hours for foot traffic and 72 hours for heavy traffic. Outdoor use will dramatically lower dry times in the summer.

Masking Tape

Are you having trouble with tape pulling up sealer when masking off areas?

If you let your sealer cure for 7 days, you can then apply a coat of our
High Gloss Wax and let dry. Once this has dried you can use paper and
tape on your floor and no sealer should be pulled up by the tape. The wax
creates a barrier so the tape does not pull up any sealer.
